| Day 2 | The Coastal route, 60km/750hm Fethiye - Karagozler – Kayakoy- Fethiye On this day you are going to make a roundtrip of the Karagozler peninsula, with its b We pass through this village and head towards Af Kule monastery, where we will lunch in the ruins of the monastery built by Greek monks. After lunch a few not too difficult kms are waiting. We return on the same road but instead of going all the way to Kayaköy we turn towards Belen from where we climb up to the forest road we first came on. This time however we will be able to enjoy the view as well as the ride downhill. Finally we turn directly down towards the shipyards and return through the harbour to our hotel. |
| Day 3 | Landscape route, 65km/800hm Fethiye – Kargi – Yaniklar – Yesil vadi – Fethiye Today the “Landscape route” is on the menu. We call it this because we will be passing through a variety of landscapes, all in one trip. From our hotel the first 15km are flat and easy-going and perfect for getting our legs warm. We go along the beach as far as it goes and turn out on the main road for only a short while. After a few tough kilometres on a winding ascent we leave the tarmac and dive into the forest. The next 15-20km go up and down through distinctly different landscapes. Sand paths alternate through magical surroundings with small mountain streams and sycamores. The last 5km of the road goes over rough terrain with some tough climbs. We go through untouched nature with breathtaking views of the sea beyond the green hills. The climbs on the route are not too hard really and we are rewarded with a fantastic descent. After that we follow a canal to a place called the Green Valley Park where we lunch literally above a river of cool mountain water. After the lunch its easy cycling towards the Calis boulevard and our hotel. |
| Day 4 | Relax day or alternative program, 40km/650hm or 60km/1000hm Today we give our legs a chance to recover. This day will however not be a passive one. There is a wealth of activities to choose from. You can make a boat trip or excursions to natural and historical places of interest. Or you can go shopping, stroll along in the marina, or just relax at the pool or at the beach of Calis. |
| Day 5 | yaka route, 65km/1150hm Fethiye – Essenkoy - Gunesli – Yaka We will be doing some serious cycling on this day. The destination is Yakaköy where we will stay the night in a genuine stone house. Starting out along the canal that runs from the very centre of Fethiye we part from it for a short while only. We then rejoin the canal and go up and into a magic forest. There is one climb but after that it is cruising really. We come out from the forest and pass through the picturesque village of Çaltiözü. Then we have a short stretch of main road to finish before we head directly towards Güneşli and Yakaköy. In Güneşli we will have a light, local lunch. After lunch we have to ascend on a quite steep road. The first part takes us to the old Lycian city Tloss (2500 B.C) with its impressive rock tombs. After Tloss its another heavy 5km to Yakakoy; you have to deal with a height difference of 400mtr in those 5km. Our overnight accommodation offers the possibility of refreshing yourself in the pool while enjoying the panoramic view with a cold drink in your hand. The view from the pool is not suited for description. You have to see it for yourself. |
| Day 6 | River valley route, 70km/950hm Yakakoy - Ortakoy - Kizibel - Fethiye We leave the stone house and go down, passing Tlos again. At Güneşli we turn towards Kemer and a small village called Ortakoy where we take a break for lunch. This part is really easy. After lunch we continue, passing by the grand Eşen river and small villages. There is a fantastic view of the Boncuk mountains. This is still easy cycling but shortly we will have to get out of the valley and that is a different business altogether. A climb of 6,5km is waiting for us. It will take us out of the valley to Kizilbel at 700meters. This is a narrow road with hairpins and beautiful streams beside it. When we reach Kizibel we're practically home. The remaining 25km are 90% downhill. We descend to sea level and Fethiye..
|
| Day 7 | Cenger route, 65km/1065hm Fethiye – Cenger - Uzumlu – Incirkoy – Fethiye The Grand Finale. On this last day of your cycling holiday we will climb through deep forests, passing the mountain village of Çenger and then continue climbing to above 1000 meters. We will lunch at a nice place in the woods. Ok, it is hard work but consider this: the return is a 35 km downhill ride with a superb view of the Üzümlü plain and the mountains and even the sea. Before we reach Üzümlü we turn off the main road and go down the steep streets of İncirköy, passing under what might be called a drive-through-mosque. It is almost surrealistic! Then we ride on the plain we previously watched from above. The last part is downhill to sea level; back to the hotel and a cool drink at the pool! |
| Day 8 | Return flight |
